Door-to-Door Sales???

Can I admit that door-to-door salesmen creep me out?  I know that 99% of them are probably great people and they are just trying to make a buck...  But, there is something unsettling to me about having a stranger milling about when I am home, alone, with our baby Bewis.

I just get the idea that some of them are "scoping" out my neighborhood...  The one last night was selling some sort of home alarm or some-such.  Luckily Babus was there to handle it.  Today it was a new guy but the same company.  He was all "so, you have a baby there with you?  How old is it? Is it a little boy or a girl?"  Okay, I get those kinds of questions, but then he asked "How will I know when someone is home?  Do you leave the car out, or park in the garage?"  Pardon?  That just creeps me out.  I told him we ALWAYS park in the garage.  The last thing I need is a creepy dude (or chick) thinking that they can get up to no good because there isn't a car parked in the driveway.

Luckily, the guy across the street is a sheriff & most of my neighborhood is composed of retirees that are home and out in their yards all day long.  8-)

I guess I am just being paranoid, and it would never have bothered me...  Until I had Bewis.  Now I am HYPER aware.

I think we need a dog...  A HUGE, mean looking dog!  8-)

*****Edited to Add*****

Dude came back AGAIN!!!  This time Hubby was home.  But the sales Dude was trying to get in our house.  Asking for a glass of water and whatnot,  No Way, guy!!!

Trying to Play Catch-Up...

The house is a miserable wreck.  8-(

When Babus is home on the weekend I NEVER seem to get anything done.  The Living Room is not too terrible; just blocks all over the floor and in need of a quick vacuum, but the kitchen looks like a bomb went off in there.  Truthfully, I am DREADING the amount of dishes that I will be doing within the next half hour.  ***shudder***

1.  Gather trash & take to the curb for pick-up.
2.  Pick up blocks ALL over the Living Room.
3.  Laundry.  (4 loads down, a million more to go...)
4.  Scrub toilets & bathroom sinks.
5.  Sweep & mop bathroom.
5.  Do dishes ***ICK!***
6.  Sweep & mop kitchen.
7.  Take chicken out (to thaw) for dinner.
8.  Clean out fridge.
9.  Make a menu for next week.
10.  Make grocery list.
11.  Dust living & dining rooms.
12.  Vacuum entire house.

I guess that is a nice little list to get me all started.  8-)

Retro Bathrooms... ***Sigh***

Now, don't get me wrong; I LOVE all things from the 1930's thru the very early 1960's.  I always wanted a house that had that mid-century vibe to it...  Well, I finally got what I wanted but now I have a question...

What does one do with a pink & maroon bathroom?  The tiles are all original to the house, and they are in REALLY good condition, so there is NO way I want to destroy them.  I just have NO idea what color to paint the top half of the room...

Right now it has funky heart wallpaper, that is in NO WAY original.  It actually has a mid 80's vibe about it.  I really need to post a picture.

Actually, I need to take a ton of pictures and post a "home tour."  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE looking at home tours online...  I guess it's the voyeur in me, but I can't help it.  8-)  I think I must have looked at the home tours listed on Candy's page about a million times.  8-)

Busy, Busy, Busy...

I really wish I knew how those parents who have huge families do it...  We have 1 little girl and she keeps me running around almost nonstop...

I keep trying to make a daily "schedule" so I can have a nice, tidy list of all the things that I need to accomplish during the day.  I am a list-freak!  I love making them and use them for even the simplest stuff...  That being said; I just can't ever seem to make a decent homemaking schedule.

Bewis (Like Lewis, with a B) wakes up around 7 AM and after that the day is pretty filled up with just taking care of her and making sure she stays FULLY entertained.  8-)

Look at that perfect little face!!!  But, under that angelic little smile lurks the heart of a true diva.  Granted, we totally made her a diva, but she's beyond worth it.

She will only nap for about 30 minutes at a time and by the time she finally goes to bed (at about 8:30 PM) I am so tired it is about all I can do to tidy the kitchen, snag a shower and fall in bed.

I do manage to get my daily chores done, but they are always fragmented.  Like, I will clean out the fridge but then it will take me HOURS to get to the dirty dishes...  I guess it doesn't really matter as long as the chores are getting done...  It just feels like there HAS to be a better way.

I keep telling myself that I will hunker down and make a binder, but I never seem to get it together enough to actually print out the pages.

If anyone ever reads this; Do you use a binder, and if so, do you find it helpful?

Thanks!!!

Blood Type Diet???

A friend of mine, named Amanda, has been having crazy great weight loss and I am beyond jealous!!!  She has been following a diet that is broken down by your blood type.  I looked it up and it doesn't seem all that difficult, so I am going to go ahead and give it a try.

If I get REALLY brave I may take some "before" pictures...  Ick, even the IDEA of that makes me all jumbley in the tummy...

Wish me luck!!!

A New Day; A New Start...

I always seem to have all of these grand ideas and great topics that I want to talk (or write) about and then the INSTANT I actually sit down to post, my mind goes totally blank.  8-)

I have tried my hand at keeping up with a blog in the past, and as soon as life got busy my posting became nonexistent...  I am making a solemn vow to actually keep up with this particular blog!!!  Even if that only means that this will end up being a disjointed personal journal.  8-)

I figured it was time for a new start because EVERYTHING in our life seems to be changing right now.  We just moved from Missouri to Texas.  The Hubby got a  great job offer that we couldn't pass up.  We, literally, had 1 month to sell our home, buy a new home in Texas, get moved and get settled before Babus starts his new job.

Well, we managed to sell the house in Missouri SUPER fast...  But the 1st house we put an offer in on ended up being a total waste of time (the house was falling apart & would have cost more to repair than the asking price of the entire house).  We didn't have enough time to travel back down to Texas to look at more homes (our #2 choice had been sold the same day we looked at it) so my parents made the trip and picked out our home.  Talk about TRUST, eh?

They took some photos but they TRULY did not do our gal justice...  But, we needed a house and we needed one ASAP, so we trusted my parents and dove in.  That, my friends, was the BEST move we could have ever made!  We LOVE our house!!!  ***I will get it together and post a little home tour, I promise!***

So, now here we are, just trying to get settled in...  Babus starts his new job in 2 days...  And after Bewis' 1st birthday, in July, I will be looking to go back to work.

It feels like there are a million things all going on at the same time, and I will admit that I have been feeling a tad overwhelmed...  But, overwhelmed in the BEST possible way!  8-)
